PRIMARY PURPOSE: To produce and edit material produced by the Engineering Students’ Society, and ensure the material released is held to a high, error-free standard.

 

NATURE OF WORK: Junior Editors will work directly under the AVP Publications to ensure released materials do not violate ESS Policies, and assist in the distribution of said materials. Junior Editors will

also assist the AVP Publications in compiling content for various written and online publications available to students and the public.

 

ACCOUNTABILITIES: Reporting directly to the AVP Publications, Junior Editors will work on various assignments pertaining to written materials released to the public such as the EnggLink and Bridge

publications.

 

TASKS AND DUTIES: Report directly to the AVP Publications on a regular basis; assist the AVP Publications in their capacity; compile and release content for all publications associated with the ESS; ensure released material is up to the Society’s high standard; work on competing projects with multiple deadlines; and, maintain the transition document for the Junior Editor position.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:
Education
Candidates must be an undergraduate engineering student at the University of Alberta.
Experience
No previous experience is required for this position; however experience in technical writing would be beneficial.
Skills
Microsoft Office application skills; ability to work with and lead a team; possesses creative thinking and problem solving skills; effective interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal; proven vision and self-motivation skills; and, ability to work on multiple projects with competing demands to meet deadlines.
