PRIMARY PURPOSE: To oversee and manage the ITDivision within the Engineering Students’ Society.

NATURE OF WORK: AVP IT  will work closely with their coordinators in maintaining the IT division within the ESS for the 2017/2018 academic year.

ACCOUNTABILITIES: Reporting directly to the VP Communications, AVP IT will ensure all tasks given to their division are completed in a professional and timely manner.

TASKS AND DUTIES: Report directly to the Vice President Communications of the ESS on a regular basis; lead a team of two to four coordinators; Ensure the secure operation of ESS information technology assets; Ensure the Society’s information technology services, including web and electronic mail service, are available; Train and recruit officer[s] to operate the services ensuring that successors to officers are trained as needed; Hold two office hours per week (excluding the winter 2017 term); and, maintain the transition document for the AVP IT position

QUALIFICATIONS: 
Education
Candidates must be an undergraduate engineering student at the University of Alberta.

Experience
No previous experience is required for this position; however experience in graphic design would be beneficial.

Skills 
Microsoft Office application skills; ability to work with and lead a team; possesses creative thinking and problem solving skills; effective interpersonal and communication skills both written and verbal; proven vision and self-motivation skills; and, ability to work on multiple projects with competing demands to meet deadlines.
